The only two summer festival apperances for 2008 are now behind us and heres what vocalist Mike had to say about it:

“Hey people! Just got back from the 2 shows we did with Bloodbath! Great fun! We played at the Party.San festival in Germany and at the Pellavarock fest in Finland. I was really sick with the flu/sore throat and so was Axe so the 2 rehearsals we did for the shows was a drag, really! During the shows I had to blow my nose all the time, which probably isn’t the best for death metal cred, but what the hell?
The first show was pretty disatrous. The sound on stage was out of control and none of us could hear anything at all. Not a great show but fun nevertheless. They only gave us a 15 minute changover so we didn’t have time to do a proper line check. Loads of people there and I guess most seemed to enjoy themselves, but we really though it was horrendous, haha!
The 2nd one was way better…both me and Axe we’re doing slightly better yet I still had to blow my nose all the time. It was a tight show with much better stagesound yet a lot less people being a smaller festival in the woods. Our dress-code? Blood infested, mud caked, worn, torn shitty old t-shirts, black pants and some blood all over…the usual stuff. It was great times overall, I thought I’d be miserable being sick and being so busy with Opeth, I was on the verge of calling it off, but truly ended up having a great time. So, we’ll go under the surface again now, but do check out the album once it’s out….it’s cool as….hell!”

Bloodbath’s third full-length album has been entitled The Fathomless Mastery and is currently mixed due for an October 6th release on Peaceville records. 11 songs total including At the behest of their death, Mock the cross, Iesous, Wretched human mirror, Treasonous, Devouring the feeble, Hades rising, Slaughtering the will to live, Earthrot, Process of disillumination, Drink from the cup of heresy. The stunning cover artwork was again done by mr Dusty Peterson. Audio samples are next…

A mini-site for the Wacken Carnage has been posted online featuring a video clip from the DVD, a desktop wallpaper and ofcourse pre-order links to the webstore and iTunes. The release date is June 2nd (U.S. June 24th).

A second gig has been added for the summer. Bloodbath will headline Finland’s Pellavarock Festival on August 9th. It will be the only gig exclusively for Finland in 2008. Tickets are available here.

Bloodbath just spent the last week at Park Studio in Stockholm where Axe put down an (un)healthy doze of all the basic ingredients and more to get this death metal monster meal cooking in hell’s oven. We’re talking classic oldschool skinpounding, furious blastbeats, double bassdrums, all kinds of tempos and a heavy load of killer fills, yeah you name it… This time it turned out to be 11 brand new songs on the menu for the band’s still untitled third album. So what direction does the material take this time? Well It’s definately taking off where we left with Unblessing the Purity. The material represents nothing but hateful brutality, so there’s surely a lot of speed countered with heavy groove. Riff wise, we’re playing a lot with dissonant harmonies for that feverish possessed feeling, but we also brought back the whole melodic yet haunting “bee-swarming” theme concept from the past albums to represent the classic sound, so there’s definately gonna be a good deal of variety on here which we hope to pack together in the most crushing production yet. The recording will now be moved to engineer David Castillo’s newbuilt studio where we’ll put down the guitars and bass over the next month while waiting for Mike to return from his touring in June to cut the vocals before we enter mix mode. The cover artwork will once again be handled by Dusty Peterson. The album has been set for an October 6th release, but the album title, song titles, audio teasers and the coverartwork will show up during the summer. Stay tuned. The first and so far only concert with Bloodbath will finally see the dawn (of the dead) as a live CD/DVD digipak entitled ‘The Wacken Carnage’ on Peaceville May 19th. Almost three years have passed since this carnage took place in Wacken, but worry not - we were already past our best “expiration date” back when we started the band, so this concert will consequently prove our old school principled death metal values remain timeless. The elegantly brutal artwork was created by Travis Smith.

Bloodbath has been confirmed to co-headline this years Party.San Metal Open Air Festival on Friday the 8th of August. This show will be exclusive for Germany and currently the only show booked so far. This event will mark Bloodbath’s return to the stage with the new line-up and will be the second live appearance ever. Plans have been made to film this show for yet another DVD, so zombies all over the world - start stumble your way to Bad Berka for one of the most brutal nights this summer.

So the time has come for Bloodbath to once again poison the scene with a contagious doze of über brutal death metal. An old acquaitance in this zombified bloodline has once again re-visited his old home. We can now announce that the vocalist on the new mini-cd is none other than Mikael Åkerfeldt courtesy of Opeth.

Second deathster to join the elite is Mr Per ‘Sodomizer’ Eriksson (ex-21 Lucifers, ex-Genocrush Ferox). Sodomizer’s brutal death metal songwriting approach as well as guitar shredding is a highly welcomed element in the legacy of Bloodbath.
